As a consumer you have lots of options for training. There are a ton of facilities out there and each one will tell you that their bias and focus is the best. On one end of the training spectrum is the personal training (PT) model. Trainers work one-on-one with their clients and design programs that are tailored to the individual. . Although the PT model has benefits for both the trainer and the client, it can be limited when trying to find balance. The trainer charges higher service fees for this option due to the time demand, but they are limited in their ability to scale due to the time constraint in this model. From a consumer's standpoint the determining factor is typically economics or the individualized attention - the value placed on either factor will sway the decision. On the other end of the fitness spectrum is the group model. Whether your t-shirt has your bootcamp, kickboxing, body shaping, or CrossFit name, the model is essentially the same. Trainers work with many clients at once and the program for everyone is typically designed by the owner of the facility or the head coach. The group model also has benefits for both the trainer and the client. The sense of belonging to a group and sweating and completing a workout together creates a community bond. While this model has delivered results for clients all over the world, it is our opinion that limitations do exist for the long-term sustainability. On a recent occasion one of our clients that has a program specifically designed for her needs stopped at a group facility to conduct business on a completely separate topic. One of the coaches said to her that "she should do CrossFit". She politely responded that her training was designed specifically for her. For those of you that have been doing the CF Open this year, we hope that you have had success over the course of the last 5 weeks. If you participated, ask yourself the following questions: -What was the limiting factor in one/all of the workouts? -Did you complete one of the workouts once? Twice? Three times? -Did you feel prepared for the testing this year from your training? -Does your coach have a plan for your training for next year? If you've wanted a personalized program in the past but couldn't afford personal training, our model can meet you where you want to go. The grass is greener on the other side! If you want to look better, feel better, train more effectively, reduce pain, or simply want to learn more about a different model of fitness COACHING, complete a consultation request form and I will call you within 12 hours!
