Parenting is tough and can seem thankless on days that nothing goes the way it is supposed to in your mind. In our last post we wrote about the endless responsibilities that affect busy moms and dads. Shuttling kids between activities or to school events can seem like a never ending loop. Add on food preparation and the surprise homework assignment that they haven't finished for the deadline tomorrow and you run the risk of derailing your fitness and/or nutrition plan for the week! In order to take care of ourselves as parents we need to prioritize self-care activities such as meditation, reading, exercise, and time with other adults. As a married couple, MAKING time for date nights is also important to maintain the relationship with your spouse. We introduced you to Tovah in our last post and she is a great example of showing strength and resilience as a busy mom. She balances the responsibilities of raising 5 kids with her husband Dan. They also have a furry little dog that performs all sorts of tricks! You can see from the picture below that their family loves life and they value their time together.

What is the definition of success in fitness for a busy mom? The answer will be different for each individual that answers the question. From a coaching standpoint, we want to set our clients up for success. We take into account their busy lives and how bumps in the road can interrupt a plan during the week. Life gets busy and it is reflected in her compliance over the last 7, 30, and 90 days. We don't place judgment on that. We are here to support her on her journey. Since we have a long-term plan in place for her, she has the ability to still see results when she isn't 100% compliant each week. The graphics shown below highlight her growth and advancement for overall fitness. Over time the goals may change but there should always be a feeling of fulfillment and joy in the process of training and getting better with nutrition and lifestyle management. While she may not be boastful in her accomplishments, I will brag about her results. She is doing an amazing job with her program. She began in February and we completed her assessment to get her starting point. We then prioritized movements that would move her towards her goals. We focused on quality movements and functional bodybuilding. Stay tuned for the third part in our story about Tovah next week. We will highlight a typical training week for her using the principles outlined in the video below from OPEX Fitness.

Her success looks like this using FitBot analytics: Upper Body Pushing

Single Leg Squat

Core Endurance

Aerobic Capacity

Postural Endurance

Upper Body Pulling
