The best gym, coach, and tribe for you

We are almost a full month into the 2017 calendar year and many gyms have a significant increase in membership during this time of the year. Many people make promises to themselves that "this is the year" that they prioritize their health, fitness, nutrition, etc. The goals that have been important to them in the last few years haven't come to fruition yet...and it is going to happen this year. That's what they tell themselves! There is no shortage of gimmicks and products that cater to this emotional side of consumers. You can get a watch or wear a device on your wrist that tells you how much activity you need to stay on track to meet your goals. Additionally, many gyms launch nutrition challenges in January because the after-effects of the holidays are over and you will have 11 more months before Grandma's Christmas cookies make an appearance again. I am not sitting in a glass house as I write this article. I have been guilty of this in the past. I have participated in Paleo challenges, I completed the Whole 30, and I have bundled services with supplement packages to clients in the past when I owned my previous gym. I have personally fallen off track for training, nutrition, and lifestyle several times during the last year as well I get it...challenges sound fun and inviting and they allow you to learn new skills in the kitchen and participate with your friends. I also "get" that the rate of adoption over time from these challenges is VERY low. I don't have statistics to validate my opinion so don't quote me, but ask yourself these questions: -Did you implement lasting change from the last challenge that you completed? -Did you reward yourself with a giant "cheat meal" when the challenge was finished? -Was there a"named" WOD or baseline at the beginning/end of the challenge? Was it scaled for you? -Is the person that you started the challenge with more or less successful than you? -Are you both registered for the same exact challenge this year? The coaches at Elkhorn Valley Fitness are trained and skilled in the following areas: -Consulting/lifecoaching -Assessment -Nutrition -Program Design We ask our coaches to build rapport and trust with our clients from the first conversation they have together. They have the ability to impact significantly those that make the choice to do something different and unique. They have also taken personal responsibility to grow professionally with an extensive continuing education program. The credentials are not handed out after a weekend course - they must show compliance in a year-long journey with their mentors. We use proven principles that are shared with coaches around the world from the amazing team at OPEX Fitness. Our clients undergo a thorough assessment and their exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle are analyzed and customized to bring optimal results. The best gym, coach, and tribe might require you to make a change from your current position. -If you are training and you are stuck in a position where your goals are not being reached, look at your current program and inquire if it is the correct prescription for you. -If you are a coach that has reached your maximum potential and have no room for growth or development, ask yourself if trading your time for a membership is putting you in the best position for your future. -If your tribe is performing movements that are not in line with your aim for training or if you feel that you are not being challenged enough, look at your journal from previous sessions and ask if what you are doing is going to help move you to a better version of yourself.

Individualized training is all we offer at Elkhorn Valley Fitness. You are unique in your exercise, nutrition, lifestyle, and many other factors. The prescription that you complete in your training should be unique as well. You get a coach that is dedicated to your success. The coaching staff supports all clients that are members of our tribe. You are not on an island and you don't have a rep counter or babysitter. The coach is there to help educate you on your journey and they provide daily interaction as well as monthly reviews to continually upgrade your program! If your first month of 2017 looks like the first month of 2016 and you are getting frustrated, contact us and schedule a time to have a FREE CONSULTATION with one of our coaches. We would love to hear your story and provide you with an opportunity to ask questions! Michael Brownfield Owner/Founder Elkhorn Valley Fitness michael@elkhornvalleyfitness.com 402.630.8941
